My name is Dr. Diedra Manns. Some of you may remember me from the Workplace Wellness workshop. I presented a couple of years ago at the GSOSW headquarters. I was happy to hear that many of you have followed my recommendations and purchased tools to improve your workstation set up at the office.

Since we’ve collectively been impacted by Covid-19, your workstation may now look more like your kitchen or dining room table these days, and the idea of going into the office is a distant memory. Remember when we used to think that remote work was less productive? Yes, it’s great to wear yoga pants and a professional-looking top while on a Zoom call with your boss, but are you taking care of yourself these days? Are you taking the recommended breaks for movement, self-care, and disconnection? Are you feeling stiffer than you used to be, mushier than you used to be before the pandemic? You’re not alone.

Who is Dr. Diedra?

Hello, My name is Dr. Diedra Manns. I'm a woman of a certain age, a physical therapist, a scientist, an entrepreneur, a speaker, a course creator, a dancer, a coach, and a compassionate people lover helping modern women lead healthier, more fulfilling lives.

I came to this work after having an adventure in wellness after being diagnosed with breast cancer. During that time, I made the conscious choice to experience the breast cancer recovery journey as a chrysalis moment. I took an integrated approach including lifestyle adjustments to create an environment for my growth into a more evolved form. This was also the time I discovered the butterfly effect.

The butterfly effect was a theory from Edward Lorenz, a meteorologist who proposed that a butterfly flapping its wings locally can cause major weather events in lands far far away.

I often refer to the butterfly effect when coaching my clients to help them understand that health and wellness is a journey, where even small steps can result in major improvements towards living a healthier more fulfilled life, no matter where they start.
